The new series MiC Bollettino di Numismatica

Besides the need of creating opportunities for scholars, especially young ones, to express their view, providing them with dedicated and easy accessible tools, the need and importance of providing access in a fairly short space of time to the mass of numismatic documents present either in historicised collections or recovered during systematic or sporadic excavations or recovered otherwise persuaded the management of the Bollettino di Numismatica to launch these two new series, designed solely for the web, which consequently accompany the now historical paper edition of the Journal, featuring an extremely clear thematic divide.

The 'Studi e Ricerche' series is in fact directed exclusively at hosting dissertations about the history of numismatics, history of art and history of coinage, whereas the 'Materiali' series includes catalogues of materials kept in public or private collections or originating from systematic or sporadic excavations as well as from acquisitions, donations and seizure.

The project, carried out in collaboration with the Ministero dell'Economia e Finanze, Biblioteca Virtuale dello Stato and the technical support of the Direzione Sistemi Informativi e Soluzioni Integrate of the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato is one of the largest frameworks for the recovery and enhancement of the cultural heritage of Italy. The Direzione Generale per le Antichità of the MiBACT is performing the project with the help of the Portale numismatico dello Stato which contains the large numismatic database referred to as Iuno Moneta, which includes the huge numismatic database Iuno Moneta and the museum routes Vetrine Virtuali e Itinerari.
